    Woodworking

Many of the applications and types of tools used for woodworking are very similar to the tools used for metalworking so it is no surprise that the benefits of cryogenic processing can be enjoyed in this industry sector as well.

Those in the industry know that wood can be unpredictable in its ability to consume tools, the composite type materials such as MDF and chipboard can be especially arduous.

One customer of ours, a large European manufacturer, moved the production capabilities of one of its tool sets from one unit to six units. Not only has this reduced the consumption of expensive carbide blades but also increased production rates through reduced down time.

Another company based in the Midlands who manufacture pallets has seen the life of large four inch band-saw blades go from four days to two weeks. Not only has the cutting tip remained sharper for longer but the frequent problem of the blade snapping due to poor annealing of the weld has been solved.

Some typical tool types that can benefit from cryogenic processing:-

Band saw blades - Chain saw blades - Chipper knives - Chisels - Circular saw blades - Formers -  Jig saw blades - Moulding cutters - Planes - Routers - Saw blades
