Stamp & Die

The materials used to manufacture stamp & die tooling generally work well with the cryogenic process.  Whether you are punching blanks or stamping detailed relief, the cryogenic process will help to prolong tool life and so improve the return on investment.

The way the items are taken to ultra low temperatures prevents cracking and will not generally increase brittleness in standard metals used for making this type of tool. Trials have shown a variety of improvements in life span, depending on the material being worked as well as the tool material. An M2 punch and die set used for stainless doubled life on an Amada machine. Whilst an S7 two part tool, forming simple mild steel to an end post, gave a 5 fold increase.
